Cardinals look for the sweep

The Cardinals have already won the series, so in theory, game 2 of the doubleheader is just gravy. But I’m a greedy man and I’m assuming you dear reader are also greedy, and want all the wins against the White Sox. I was forced to mostly follow Game 1 on my phone and it was a bit of a frustrating time for me. Working and seeing the Cardinals not lead all game. Luckily I got home in time to watch Yohel Pozo hit what ended up being the game-winning single.

For game 2, we are blessed with the opportunity to see Michael McGreevy. McGreevy was called up for game 2 and for better news, McGreevy can be called back up at any time because the 15 day-rule does not apply if you are the extra man on a doubleheader. He’s made one start, although really he threw the equivalent of two starts. One went well, one went okay against a great offense. The White Sox counter with Mike Vasil, who is not listed as a starter on Roster Resource, but did throw 71 pitches in his last outing. So he’s stretched out.

How to watch: FanDuel Sports Midwest

How to listen: 1120AM KMOX/104.1FM

First pitch: 4:45 PM CDT

Matchup:

Michael McGreevy (3.09 ERA/1.86 FIP/3.36 xFIP)

vs.

Mike Vasil (1.99 ERA/4.56 FIP/5.11 xFIP)

Players to Watch

STL: Brendan Donovan: I don’t have access to the Cardinals lineup, but I can’t think of a safer player to watch than Donovan, because he is guaranteed to be in the lineup and on top of that, he’s maybe the best hitter in the lineup. He will likely to be the Cardinals All-Star representative. I don’t know why I’m justifying putting Donovan here, you get it.

CHW: Chase Meidroth: The White Sox seem to always have middle infielders with no power who make tons of contact. Meidroth, a 4th round pick from 2022, carries on that tradition. He’s been an average hitter, walking 11% of the time and striking out 14% of the time. His .359 OBP makes him a pretty good leadoff and table setter for the White Sox lineup.
