Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about how fun it is to write the Commute in the summer.
Honestly? It’s my favorite part of the week. The part where I lie in bed, ready to conk off for the night before thinking, “ah, hell, my commute is tomorrow,” and scrambling to my office to put something together. It’s a blast to spend the next 20 minutes scouring the Mizzou internet for anything to fill this space, especially when I’m already half asleep. And it’s even better that I get to do it every Sunday night for the next eight weeks with nothing Mizzou-related happenings.
Summer football camp, you can’t come soon enough.
Anyway, here’s a pair of headlines:
- Sophie Cunningham scored 5 points on 2-4 shooting when the Fever lost on Saturday night.
- Seth Halvorsen struck out one, walked one and allowed no runs in an inning of relief ball for the 9-44 Colorado Rockies.
Whew boy. This has been a rich experience.
Yesterday at Rock M and Rock M+
- In which the Rock M Digest is BACK, BABY! And this week, it’s got an Around the Horn shoutout!
This show was important to me not only as a future sportswriter, but as someone who just loves sports in general. Between this show and PTI (another Steger Family favorite), I could catch up on all I needed to know in little bitesize nuggets. And for ATH, it introduced me to the best of the best, many cast members who I still follow and read/listen to this day.
Seriously a must read feature, especially if you’re a “read the newspaper and blogs with your morning coffee” person like me.
