SEC Football Coach Predicts ‘Issues’ Coming With Scheduling

The SEC schedule is about to change in a major way.

2024 will see the conference going away from divisions and will see schools playing each other on a rotating basis. The top two teams in the conference at the end of the season will play in the SEC Championship Game, just like the ACC and Big 12.

While some coaches like the changes, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz doesn’t.

“I personally prefer the East and West setup,” Drinkwitz said, via On3. “I think it gives you continuity on who you’re playing and a competitive continuity so you know who you have to measure up against and kind of build your rosters to compete with certain teams. I think the fluidity of playing through the entire conference is going to be kind of difficult. But that’s the new norm of college football.”

College football is always changing and Drinkwitz will have to adapt to this new format, just like the other coaches in the conference.

It’s a situation that can be dealt with this next season.

Right now, Missouri is 8-2 overall and may get a berth in a New Year’s Six bowl if it can finish this season at 10-2.
