Report cards are back, and Mizzou Football passes (mostly)

September 6, 2021 by Rock M Nation Leave a Comment

Mizzou Links for September 6, 2021.

Report cards are in, don’t tell your mom and dad

Ah, football season. That time of year when we like to watch a violent game and then grade it like we’re school teachers.

Anyway, report cards are back! The tried and true content format is how we start off every Monday morning links post during football season, and I don’t see a reason to stop! Unless one of you has a better idea, in which case, please tell us. Maybe we’ll actually listen!

  • The Kansas City Star grade card is in and the results are… not too bad for Mizzou! All things considering, I was expecting some Cs.
  • The Columbia Tribune’s grade card (courtesy of Chris Kwiecinski) also keeps things relatively high-ranking despite Mizzou’s struggles.
  • Not a grade card, but in his recap, Dave Matter and the Post-Dispatch stressed the importance of the newcomers to Mizzou’s season-opening victory.
  • More from Matter, who examined where Mizzou’s first game stats stand up to the rest of the country:

Mizzou players in the national stat leaders through Week 0 and most of Week 1:

RB Tyler Badie: 4th in rushing, 4th in yards from scrimmage
CB Akayleb Evans: 4th in passes defended
LB Blaze Alldredge: 1st in sacks, 1st in tackles for loss

How is Badie fourth in rushing?!

  • After four consecutive losses, Mizzou Volleyball righted the ship slightly this weekend, taking two consecutive victories, including yesterday’s over South Dakota.
  • Mizzou Soccer handed Notre Dame its first loss of the season on Sunday behind a brace from Milena Fischer. The Tigers are now 3-2 on the season.
  • Mizzou Hoops hosted three-star power forward Robert Jennings over the weekend.

The DeSoto, TX, player is also being heavily pursued by Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M.

  • Columbia health officials were somewhat concerned with the high turnout for Mizzou Football’s season-opening victory, but are encouraged by the presence of a vaccine (which Eli Drinkwitz has promoted multiple times).
  • Sophie Cunningham just out here doing Sophie Cunningham things.

It feels as if I’ve typed that sentence before, but this one probably applies better.
