MV3: A trio of playmakers top the ballots after another deflating loss

Our masthead is feeling the slog of miserable performances, but still found some players to celebrate

1. Tauskie Dove

Not many of the receivers stood out against A&M, mostly due to Connor Bazelak’s continued struggles. But Tauskie Dove separated himself from the pack, proving to be the only reliable weapon to which Baze could connect. Dove grabbed at least one explosive play and led the team in receiving yards, showing the same dynamic spark that got the offense rolling in 2020. Maybe he’ll have the same effect this time around?

2. Tyler Badie

It was far from Tyler Badie’s most exceptional day, but that says more about the year Tyler Badie is having than the player himself. On a day when the offense once again struggled, Badie totaled 121 yards on 29 touches, including an electrifying touchdown run that gave the Tigers some life in the first half. Missouri’s season may be falling apart, but RB1 continues to put together one of the better seasons a Tiger back has had this century.

3. Jaylon Carlies

Missouri’s run defense may be the worst in the country (literally), but the pass defense continues to be passable, not in small part due to the continued excellence of Jaylon Carlies. The sophomore continued to make plays against the Aggies, grabbing a big interception that put Missouri back in the game in the first half. Stuck with the unenviable task of cleaning up after the front six, Carlies joined five of his other secondary mates in leading the team with tackles, posting 4 total and 2 solo. If any player has a claim to Missouri’s Defensive MVP (a dubious award at this point), it’s him.
