The Morning Commute for May 12, 2025.
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Baseball. And we’re finally finally FINALLY here to report some good news. Because in case you heard…
More accurately, “We got three!”
After their first SEC win of the season on Friday night at Texas A&M, the Missouri Tigers weren’t satisfied with just one victory in College Station.
They weren’t even satisfied with a series win, either.
That’s right. In one of the most surprising series results in all of college baseball this season, Mizzou, coming in at 0-24 in the SEC completed the sweep on the road against a Texas A&M that was desperate for their postseason lives.
Mizzou Baseball will return home to face Mississippi State in the final games before the SEC Tournament. They’ll still more than likely finish the season with twenty or more conference losses more than conference wins. Big questions remain for Kerrick Jackson ahead of his third year. And for the program as a whole.
But gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahtdam does it feel good to see Mizzou Baseball put up a conference dub. And another. And another.
Mizzou Baseball is staring down the barrel of one of its worst seasons in program history. But the single worst? At least it’s up for debate now!
Keep it up next weekend, Tigers!
Yesterday at Rock M and Rock M+
Since its inception 50 years ago, Missouri Softball has had just five losing seasons: 14-17 (1978); 9-15 (1979); 29-33 (2002); 26-27 (2006) and this year, 2025, when the Tigers’ 25-31 record puts them more games under .500 than any other team (per my research, anyway). A season so woeful that the Tigers didn’t qualify for the NCAA Tournament, which requires a .500 record to even be considered for an at-large bid.
A big offseason awaits Larissa Anderson.
- Over at Rock M+, we’re talking about the latest in college basketball ‘crootin, including upcoming potential commitments for the Tigers and one wayward soul who has been a part of not one, not two, but three SEC programs this spring!
