Mizzou Athletics announced a contract extension for football head coach Eli Drinkwitz on Thursday morning.
“The consistent progress we’ve seen under Coach Drinkwitz’s leadership is inspiring,” Athletics Director Laird Veatch said in a public statement. “This extension, along with increased investment in our coaching and support staff, reflects our commitment to sustaining success at the highest level.”

“I’m incredibly grateful for the continued belief in our vision for Mizzou Football,” Drinkwitz said. “The Board of Curators, President Choi, Laird Veatch and our donors and fans have shown a deep commitment to building a championship-caliber program. That means investing in the people throughout our building who work tirelessly for our student-athletes. I’m proud of the staff we’ve assembled and excited to keep pushing forward together.”
In addition his success on the field, Drinkwitz has taken Mizzou recruiting to new heights, raking in several of the highest-ranked high school classes in program history, as well as being an early and successful adopter of the transfer portal. He has been an advocate of players accessing NIL deals, using the new frontier to secure some of the highest-ranked recruits in program history.
Eli Drinkwitz begins his sixth season at the helm of Mizzou Football on Thursday, August 28, when the Tigers kick off their season against Central Arkansas.
