Texas A&M represents the first road game and second top 25 matchup for the Tigers on the season.
This is not a preview! If you’re interested in who the current Texas A&M Aggies are, I recommend checking out Nate Edwards preview posted on Wednesday.
Mizzou and Texas A&M have been tied to the same conference together since 1996. But despite being league mates for 28 years, they’ve only played each other 12 times. Prior to the Big 12, A&M and Missouri faced off four times, all Texas A&M wins. In the 12 conference matchups however, Mizzou holds the advantage 7 wins to 5.
If I can generalize the last 20 years or so, Texas A&M has been one of the most overrated programs in college football, and Missouri might be of the most underrated. Since the formulation of the Big 12 the Aggies have finished a season ranked in the top 25 just 8 times. Missouri? Also 8 times. Missouri has three top 10 finishes, the Aggies have 2. The Tigers have 6 double digit win seasons, A&M just two. The Aggies bottom has been higher than Missouri’s since they’ve been to more bowl games in that period, but the ceiling seems to be a bit lower.
At least over the last 28 years.
But 28 years isn’t one Saturday morning in College Station. Missouri has been in this position before. Time to go make a statement.
