Mizzou will open the season by hosting Louisiana Tech under the lights.
Missouri 7 | Louisiana Tech 3
2Q | 14:56
First Quarter Notes
- LA Tech’s opening drive is aided by a pass interference call that overturned a Mizzou interception. Then, Jaylon Carlies took it upon himself to get the turnover off a tipped ball from Isaiah McGuire. An illegal block puts Mizzou back at their own 37.
- Cody Schrader gets the first snaps at running back. Tigers go 3-and-out however, as a Dominic Lovett screen pass served for the only positive yardage on the drive.
- Smoke Harris returns a punt from his own 3-yard line all the way out to the Bulldog 47.
- Matthew Downing is getting the ball out of his hands quick to avoid that Tiger pass rush. Still, the Mizzou defense holds strong in the red zone and forces a Louisiana Tech field goal.
- Cody Schrader still in at running back on the second drive.
- Luther Burden takes a wildcat snap for a first down for his first in-game touch as a Missouri Tiger. Brady Cook then proceeds to run it on the next play, as Mizzou keeps it on the ground this drive.
- Drive stalls out at the 44, Tigers pin LA Tech at their own 6-yard line.
- Mizzou defense certainly seems to be faster this year, flying to the ball all over the field. Also, Blake Baker likes to blitz.
- Defense forces the Bulldogs to punt from their own 2-yard line, setting the Tigers up at the LA Tech 41-yard line.
- Cook keeps an option for a first down, but then just barely misses Luther Burden for a touchdown. Tigers driving in the red zone at the end of the first quarter.
Second Quarter Notes
- Cody Schrader bulldozes his way into the end zone from 5 yards out to give Mizzou its first touchdown of the season.
