Get well, Jim…
One of the big storylines surrounding the season opener between Mizzou and Central Michigan on Saturday afternoon was Jim McElwain making his return to SEC country as a former Florida head coach.
Unfortunately, that situation might be in doubt. On Wednesday afternoon, the Central Michigan Football team announced that McElwain has undergone surgery on the Appendicitis. Assistant coach Tim Skipper has taken over the head coaching duties for the time being.
A news release from CMU Football:
Football Head Coach Jim McElwain has been diagnosed with Appendicitis and will have surgery today. Assistant Head Coach Tim Skipper will oversee the program until Coach McElwain’s return.

We wish Jim McElwain the best and are hoping for a speedy recovery.
Here’s what Tim Skipper had to say about McElwain at Central Michigan’s press conference on Wednesday:
Central Michigan assistant Tim Skipper on whether Jim McElwain will coach Saturday at Missouri: “We are hoping and praying it’s one of those 24 hour deals and he gets back with us, we get on a plane and go play the game. But Coach Mac has prepared us for situations like this.”
