Four-star class of 2026 prospect Imahri Wooten talks summer hoops, updates recruitment

KANSAS CITY, KS — Four-star class of 2026 prospect Imahri Wooten‘s summer goal is as simple as it is important: improvement.

“Main goal is just to win Peach Jam,” Wooten told ZAGSBLOG. “But personal goals is to just get better, make my teammates better, and just do what I do best.”

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard out of Redemption Christian Academy is hooping for team City Rocks this summer. He is averaging 8.7 points, 2.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game so far with his best game being a 19-point performance in a win against The Family.

Wooten’s play has garnered the attention of programs such as Seton Hall, Missouri, Auburn, VCU and Rutgers. He has taken official visits to Missouri and Auburn and has plans to visit Rutgers soon.

Here is how he broke down his recruitment so far:

Auburn: “The visit was great. I like. It was a good environment. It was a Christian environment. I come from church, so it was a good environment. I love all the coaching staff, especially the head coach, and it was just a really family-like environment. I liked it a lot, yeah.”

Missouri: “Missouri was a good visit, too. I was supposed to go during a football game, but the weekend I went, nothing was going on, but it was still a good visit. I know the assistant coach [Matt Cline] like, really, really well and it was a really good visit too.”

Seton Hall: “I just been texting them, and I know they came out to like college day during the season.”

VCU:  “Yeah, I know coach Ryan [Daly] really well. He’s been just watching me since he was at UAlbany when I was in 8th grade and he just started reaching out to me when he got to VCU.”

Rutgers: “I spoke to Rutgers at Session 2 when I talked to the coach and I think I should be taking a visit there soon.”

Wooten had also been in contact with Syracuse, Colorado and Texas A&M earlier in his recruitment process, but those schools have since fallen off his radar.

Of the schools Wooten still has in mind, he hopes to see a coaching staff that takes its relationship with players seriously.

“I like seeing a good coaching staff that players have relationships like a family environment and just a winning environment,” he said. “That’s the main thing.”

Wooten is the No. 101 player in the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He comes from a family of basketball players with his mother, Michelle Massey-Wooten, and his aunt, Malani Massey, playing for Syracuse. His uncle Kevin Simmons played the last two years of his college career at UNLV.
