The Morning Commute for Thursday, June 5
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about the latest on Tamar Bates and Caleb Grill
The NBA Finals start tonight, and that means the NBA Draft is only a couple of weeks away. And with not a whole lot of Mizzou news to cover from yesterday– let’s keep you updated on where Tamar Bates lands in the latest NBA mock draft projections.
Per Brett Siegel of Clutch Points in his latest NBA Draft Big Board, he predicts Tamar Bates in the second round (55th overall) to the Lakers — and so does Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report.
“Tamar Bates has put himself in the second-round discussion with a strong draft process, first standing out at Elite Camp and then looking like he belonged during NBA combine scrimmages. He’s an efficient shot-maker and one of the most efficient finishers among guards in this year’s field.”
It’s also worth noting that Caleb Grill had a pre-draft workout with the Portland Trail Blazers – the team announced on Tuesday.

Losing Bates and Grill could mean a step back for Mizzou Hoops this upcoming season, but The Athletic currently has Mizzou ranked at No. 24 — writes True Deck of Athlon Sports.
With NBA draft decisions finalized, The Athletic slotted #Mizzou at No. 24 in its early Top 25 for 2025–26 — one of the few outlets to include the Tigers.

“None of their recent (relative) success, however, could not have been accomplished without star quarterback Jalon Daniels, who is quickly reaching Todd Reesing levels of historical kansas greatness.”
Hate to say it, but Jalon Daniels is a good quarterback.
