The Morning Commute for Thursday, May 29
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Football
Can’t wait for Mizzou Football? Well … there’s still a while to go until their season opener on August 28th vs Central Arkansas, but it will be here before you know it.
Want something Mizzou related to watch tonight? Even though they didn’t have a spring “game” this year, SEC Network will go behind the scenes on Mizzou’s Spring football practice — which airs at 6 p.m. CT tonight.
Here’s a sneak peek:

Definitely stay tuned to see what time slot the Border War on September 6th gets.

“This offseason, Texas Tech convinced standout pitcher NiJaree Canady (considered by many to be the best player in the game) to transfer from Stanford and pitch in Lubbock. They paid her a $1.05 million NIL package to leave Stanford, where each of the past two seasons, she had led the Cardinal to the Women’s College World Series.”
Big money moves from the Texas Tech program on the softball side. Good to see NIL have an impact on non-revenue sports.
“Harris’s commitment was some much-needed good news for Mizzou on the high school recruiting front.”
Always good to land local high school kids.
“Overall, it was a pretty successful year. Mizzou Football followed up its Top 10 finish in 2023 with another double-digit win season. The men’s basketball team had a major bounce back year and earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The volleyball team made a run to the Sweet 16. And gymnastics got all the way to the Final Four before earning a top three national finish.”
Lots of good seasons, but it has to be gymnastics that had the best.
