The Morning Commute for Tuesday, July 29
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Football preseason camp.
Mizzou Football’s preseason camp has started off with significant news with RHP Sam Horn officially signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers late Sunday night — ending his Mizzou Baseball career.
17th-rder Sam Horn signs w/@Dodgers for $497,500 ($347,500 counts vs pool). @MizzouBaseball RHP, 1st-rd stuff (fastball touches 98 mph, mid-80s sweeper), just 15 IP in three college seasons because of TJ surgery. However, he will still be playing for Mizzou Football this season and he’s in the midst of a quarterback competition between Penn State transfer Beau Pribula — Drinkwitz announced at his opening press conference on Sunday with no timetable for a decision.
#Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz says the Tigers “have no timetable” on announcing a starting quarterback this season.

But is the quarterback competition just Pribula and Horn? While incredibly unlikely for a freshman QB — Eli Drinkwitz says that Matt Zollers isn’t “out of it just yet”.
Add a third name to #Mizzou‘s quarterback competition? Eli Drinkwitz says that while Beau Pribula and Sam Horn separated themselves during the spring, true freshman Matt Zollers isn’t “out of it just yet.”
It’d take a lot for Zollers to really push for QB1, but Drinkwitz thinks…

“It was fun to go back and look at the excellence achieved throughout the Athletic Department last year, and I was excited to see so much love for Olympic Sports in a year where football and basketball had reasonably good seasons!}
The Rock M’mys are always a great summer project put together from Karen. Congrats to the winners and thank you to everyone for voting!

“Eli Drinkwitz, it shouldn’t have to be pointed out, isn’t interested in going back to the way things were. He sees an opportunity for Mizzou to become one of the most successful programs in the country year-in-and-year-out. And it starts on Monday, July 28, at Mizzou Fall Camp.”
Mizzou is looking for three straight 10-win season for the first time in program history.
#Mizzou women’s basketball coach Kellie Harper added a 13th player and final player to the 2025-26 roster with Hungarian native Reka Toman.
Here’s what we know about the newest member of the Tiger roster.https://t.co/qzacIb1vTh@RockMNation
— Dylan Heinrich (@dylanrheinrich) July 28, 2025
“Toman is the only international player on the Tigers’ team heading into next season, a noted departure from last year’s international-heavy roster. In addition, she is the eighth new player added to the roster by way of Coach Harper, seemingly completing the roster overhaul.”
Mizzou WBB Head Coach Kellie Harper turns to the international route to sign Reka Toman as the final addition to the 2025-2026 roster.
“While it is a non-conference game and it is only Week 2 of the season — a win over the Jayhawks in a highly anticipated rivalry game can jumpstart the momentum in what is an upcoming year of some uncertainty. A loss will leave the fanbase frustrated with not a lot of optimism for the rest of the season.
A lot is on the line on September 6th.
