The Morning Commute for Tuesday, July 22
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Baseball
It was a tough weekend overall for the Mizzou Baseball program in terms of losing impactful players officially signing with their MLB organizations.
It started off on Saturday with in-state RHP commit Camden Lohman (Fort Zumwalt North High School) signing with the New York Mets as an 8th-round pick.
8th-rder Camden Lohman signs w/@Mets for $797,500 (slot 253 value = $213,200). Projectable Missouri HS RHP, fastball to 95, good depth on low-80s slider & upper-70s curve. Missouri recruit. @MLBDraft pic.twitter.com/tS3S5OwkTD

It marks the second year in a row that Mizzou Baseball has lost a highly touted prospect to the MLB Draft as Lohman joins Ethan Bagwell — per Matthew Gustafson.
Camden Lohman, who was a top-500 recruit in the Class of 2025 and committed to #Mizzou, has signed a significantly over slot deal with the Mets. Tigers lose a talented young signee to the pros for the second straight recruiting class (Ethan Bagwell).@RockMNation https://t.co/kr1qjSTs79

On Sunday, it was reported that junior infielder Jackson Lovich will forgo his senior season at Mizzou as he signed with the New York Yankees as a 16th-round pick.
And there it is. Jackson Lovich is a Yankee https://t.co/SEVyZy0OaR

Lovich spent three seasons at Missouri and produced back-to-back double-dight home run campaigns in his sophomore and junior year. This past season he was the offensive bright spot in the lineup — leading the team in average (.357), HRs (12), and RBI (51).
We’re still waiting an official word on incoming Mississippi State RHP transfer Jason Pruitt (drafted 15th round by the Philadelphia Phillies) and of course RHP Sam Horn (17th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers) as the deadline for draftees to officially sign with their MLB organizations is Monday, July 28th (4:00 p.m. CST).
It won’t get any easier for head coach Kerrick Jackson entering a critical Year 3 as he’s now losing a top pitching prospect and the team’s leading hitter from a season ago.

#Mizzou Football Recruiting Reset from @ByTrueDeck: Drinkwitz Secures Versatile Lineman with SEC Frame in Brandon Anderson https://t.co/GrMmkUwIbL

“Where He Fits: With Armand Membou and Marcus Bryant both hearing their names called in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Cayden Green recently earning All-American honors, Missouri is rapidly establishing itself as a powerhouse for developing elite offensive line talent.
Anderson has the size and strength to become one of these players, but he’s going to have to prove himself.
Four-Star Brandon Anderson has the talent and potential to be Mizzou Football’s next great offensive lineman.
NEW at @RockMNation: we are in the last week of Rock M’my categories and today is a tough one— MOST EUPHORIC MOMENT, which features the kU win, @MizzouGym to Four on the Floor, VB’s Sweet 16, SB’s big OU win & more.
Good luck VOTING CLOSES FRIDAY PMhttps://t.co/uAj2dZ11sV

“There were so many great moments this season in Mizzou Athletics. Snapshots in time that, no matter how the season ultimately ended up, left you feeling a sense of utter euphoria at that moment.”
There were plenty of euphoric moments, so go vote on the best one even though it will be tough. (Gymnastics advancing to the Final Four currently holds a narrow lead over the hoops win over No. 1 kU).
