The Morning Commute for Thursday, July 10th
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Jason Crowe Jr.
On Sunday night, Joe Tipton, a national basketball reporter for On3, posted a story stating that five-star 2026 guard Jason Crowe Jr. — who was expected to go to Kentucky — no longer had the Wildcats as his frontrunner.
“According to multiple sources, one school has quietly started gaining serious momentum — Missouri,” Tipton’s article said.
Kentucky is no longer seen as the frontrunner for 5⭐️ Jason Crowe Jr., with another SEC school now gaining serious momentum.

Following the excitement from the On3 report, on Monday morning, Mizzou fans received even more evidence that the rumors might be true.
NEW: Travis Branham has logged a prediction for Jason Crowe Jr. to Missouri.
Branham is 230/247 (93.12%) all-time, and his pick reflects growing momentum for Mizzou.

Travis Branham, a 247Sports Basketball Analyst with a strong track record, placed a crystal ball on Mizzou for the Top 10 prospect. A crystal ball prediction, used by 247Sports, is used when an expert is confident that a recruit will pick a specific school.
Crowe would become the Tigers’ highest ranked prospect since top prospect Michael Porter Jr. committed in 2017.
On Rock M+ from DataMizzou:
Dennis Gates served as a skill development coach for the Los Angeles Clippers from 2002-2003 before getting his start as a grad assistant in college.
Jason Crowe (Sr.), the prospect’s father, was invited to and partook in training camp with the Clippers in the fall of 2002.
The connection is there; this would be an incredible get for Mizzou following the pledge from four-star 2027 guard Scottie Adkinson.

- Morning Commute from Sammy Stava
It was announced on Tuesday that safety Daylan Carnell, center Connor Tollison, and defensive end Zion Young will be the Mizzou players attending SEC Media Days – obviously along with head coach Eli Drinkwitz.
An interesting, but not surprising, play as Missouri is one of five teams who aren’t sending a quarterback to SEC Media Days.
Stewart didn’t waste time proving he belonged in the upper echelon of SEC edge rushers. As a true freshman in 2024, he played in all 12 games, starting nine, and quickly emerged as a disruptive force on the edge. He totaled 6.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors and Freshman All-America recognition.
Stewart has the opportunity to become a SEC star this season if he continues his production; it’ll be interesting how he does in Mizzou’s revenge game.
