When the world is far from “normal” (whatever that means now), it is important to celebrate the good things that come our way. Our Missouri Tigers will be kicking off the season today, which is surely a reason for those of us who imbibe to responsibly enjoy a drink or two in celebration.
I often like to try a craft beer from somewhere near the Mizzou’s opponent home base. CMU is located in Mt. Pleasant, which has two breweries of its own. Unsurprisingly, those breweries don’t have wide distribution, so I’ll use this game as an excuse to try a beer from the highly regarded Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo. Two Hearted Ale is named after a river on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. If you split the difference, that is a close to Central Michigan as I’m going to get. Besides, “bitter citrus pine” sounds interesting, so I will give it a shot.
As it’s the first game of the season on a holiday weekend, many of us will also be upping our food game for the day. I have three slabs of St. Louis cut ribs that I’ll be smoking on the Big Green Egg today, which should pair nicely with the IPA.
Join our virtual RMN tailgate and share in the comments what you’ll be drinking and eating today!
