Good Tuesday morning, everyone. With a 5-1 loss to the Dodgers yesterday afternoon, the Cardinals find themselves just two games above .500 — 69-67 — with 26 games left to go in the 2021 regular season.

The Reds lost to the Cubs yesterday, and the Padres were off; so, with the Phillies enjoying a 12-0 win (over the Brewers, no less) here is the updated Wild Card picture as of Tuesday morning, according to MLB.com:

The Dodgers and Phillies are holding on to the two Wild Card spots, respectively, with the Reds one game back, the Phillies two games back, and the Cardinals are 3 1⁄2 games behind.

The Cardinals and Busch Stadium hosted their largest crowd of the season on Monday afternoon, with a ticketed attendance of 43,575. Many fans were displeased that Albert Pujols did not make an appearance in Monday’s contest, even booing Chris Taylor in the top of the ninth with two outs — just because he was not Pujols.

The 41-year-old slugger is expected to play for the Dodgers in Tuesday’s matchup:

Crowd at Busch Stadium chants “We want Albert” and promptly starts booing as Chris Taylor walks to the plate with two out in the top of the ninth.

Tomorrow friends. Tomorrow.

In the second game of this four-game series, J.A. Happ will go for the Cardinals around 6:45 PM Central. The Dodgers have not announced who will start for them. The lefty Happ will make his seventh start for St. Louis. In his career against the Dodgers, Happ has a 2.74 ERA in 23 innings, although he hasn’t faced them 2012. This year, the Dodgers are collectively slashing .241/.325/.439 against left-handed starting pitchers.

Have a good day!
