ST. LOUIS – Fredbird, the longtime, energetic and beloved mascot of the St. Louis Cardinals, is now officially a Hall of Famer.
The National Mascot Hall of Fame announced Tuesday that Fredbird has been inducted into its Hall of Fame Class of 2025. The announcement was made live on Good Morning America as part of National Mascot Day.
Fredbird, the Cardinals’ official mascot since 1979, has performed at more than 3,600 regular-season games, along with school outings, hospital visits and community events.
The 2025 Mascot Hall of Fame Class includes:
- Fredbird
- Blitz (Seattle Seahawks)
- Sebastian the Ibis (Miami Hurricanes)
- SJ Sharkie (San Jose Harks)
- Toro (Houston Texans)
Fredbird was selected for induction from a competitive ballot of 28 mascot nominees. The competition featured more than 125,000 votes cats over two weeks in May.
Fredbird becomes the ninth Major League Baseball mascot to be inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame, joining the Phillie Phanatic, Mr. Met, The Oriole Bird, Lou Seal (Giants), Orbit (Astros), Southpaw (White Sox), Sluggerrr (Royals), and Slider (Guardians).
The Mascot Hall of Fame, the hall of fame for North American sports mascots, is based in Philadelphia and was founded in 2005. For more information on the Mascot Hall of Fame, click here.
