Player of the Week May 12 – May 18: Ivan Herrera returns with a vengeance

After missing a month due to injury, Ivan Herrera returned to the Cardinals lineup delivering a red-hot week at the plate.

Ivan Herrera didn’t just return from the Injured List—he stormed back in spectacular fashion. After suffering an injury in early April, Herrera wasted no time reminding everyone why he’s such a key part of the St. Louis Cardinals lineup.

Since his return on May 9, Herrera has been locked in, slashing .440/.483/.720 across 29 plate appearances, good for a blistering 227 wRC+. This past week, he wasted no time making an impact, starting things off with a home run before adding three doubles throughout the week. In total, Herrera tallied nine hits and five RBIs in just 20 plate appearances, proving he’s more than ready to make up for lost time.
