MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A $55 million renovation is expected for AutoZone Park in Memphis, Tennessee, the home for the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
The City of Memphis recently reached an agreement with Vieste LLC, a Florida-based real estate development firm, to renovate the stadium, according to city documents.
The Downtown Neighborhood Association of Memphis says the upgrades “promise to elevate the stadium to Major League Baseball standards.”
The upgrades could mean new training facilities, seating, lighting, concessions and other parts of the fan experience. It could also mean some new mixed-use developments surrounding the ballpark.
“The Redbirds are an asset to our community and part of the blood that runs through downtown’s veins. We need them here. We need them to flourish. And these much needed improvements to one of the best minor league stadiums in the country is a smart investment by the city. We greatly appreciate the city making the Redbirds and their longevity in Memphis a priority” said Downtown Neighborhood Association President Jerred Price via Facebook.
The Memphis Redbirds have been the St. Louis Cardinals’ Triple-A affiliate since 1998 and have called AutoZone Park home since 2000.
