The Blues can dress up to 18 skaters and two goalies each game, so presumably, a few players on the St. Louis roster will be scratched each game.
Veteran Oskar Sundqvist will miss the first few games with an apparent lower-body injury suffered in practice last weekend.
For now, 18-year NHL veteran Milan Lucic will not be on the Blues’ Opening Night roster after a preseason tryout. He will rehab from various lower-level injuries in St. Louis then could try out again later in the season for a roster spot if needed.
Only four Blues from the 2019 Stanley Cup Final (who have remained with the roster the entire time since) make up this season’s opening roster: Jordan Binnington, Colton Parayko, Brayden Schenn and Robert Thomas.
After Thursday’s home opener, the Blues will head to Canada for a quick two-game road trip against the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks.
