The newest Louie bobblehead could use some pants

October 22, 2021 by St Louis Game Time Leave a Comment

Won’t somebody think of the children?

Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming giveaway just in time for the holidays.

Here at St. Louis Game Time, many of our writers and certainly a bulk of our readers have but one question: where are Louie’s pants?

Louie, who has been the Blues’ mascot since his introduction in 2007, has been adverse to clothing on the lower half of his body. Granted, yes, he is a bear, and bears don’t wear clothing anywhere on their bodies. The Maple Leafs’ mascot Carlton is also a noted shunner of pants and a lover of feeling the wind on his rear, but a majority of NHL mascots have joined the pants train.

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum puts out quality collectibles, of which I own a few. One of them is of Rally Cat, who is wearing only a cap and Cardinals jersey. The other is of Louie and Fredbird high-fiving. Neither mascot is wearing pants. This feels like a disturbing trend.

Regardless of if Louie feels the need to put on some slacks or even a pair of sweatpants at this point, the bobblehead, produced by FOCO, is an ode to St. Louis. It’s also the latest in the museum’s line of mascots and notable players riding stuff.

If the fact that Louie is sitting on top of a national monument and symbol of our city completely nude from the waist down doesn’t concern you, you can purchase a bobblehead here for $40 (plus $8 shipping). Each Louie’s an individually numbered creation, one of just 2,021. He would go great on your desk, in a kid’s room, casually highlighted as the centerpiece of your Thanksgiving dinner, anywhere.

“We’re excited to be releasing this awesome new bobblehead as part of the Riding Bobbleheads series,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “Louie has become one of the most recognizable mascots in the NHL while cheering on one of the league’s most successful teams. A bobblehead of Louie sitting on the famous Gateway Arch is a perfect match.”

Just don’t look up, whatever you do – don’t look up.
