ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues, a franchise long known for its iconic Blue Note logo and clean jersey designs, could possibly look a little different next season.
On Friday, the Blues dropped a compelling video on social media teasing “something big.” The 30-second video clip ends with bold phrases: “Remixed. Remastered. Reborn.” The video also teases some sort of reveal or announcement planned for June 24 – next Tuesday.
The video shows construction crews carefully removing a large, circular Blues logo sign from the team’s locker room ceiling, placing it face down and shutting off the overhead lights, all underscored by a dramatic soundtrack.
While the St. Louis Blues haven’t confirmed any specific changes just yet, the visuals – along with the phrasing – have fans wondering if a redesigned logo or a new jersey could be part of the upcoming announcement.
Speculation has been building for weeks. Last month, a hockey uniform enthusiast known as @Icethetics on social media platform X noted an “interesting development” involving Blues branding. An X post claimed that new gold shirts being sold at the official team store featured a redrawn version of the Blue Note – one more reminiscent of the club’s original logo or the one used during the 2017 Winter Classic than the current logo.
For what it’s worth, the Blues have used their current primary logo since 2009 with nearly identical version dating back to 1998, according to SportsLogoHistory.com. The current logo features a sleek, winged blue note outlined in yellow, white and royal blue, a design rooted in tradition and minimalism. The current shade of blue in the logo is described as Pantone PMS 287 C, per TeamColorCodes.com.
If rumors of new design are true with what allegedly appeared on some Blues store merchandise, fans might see a return to a more vintage-style Blue Note, possibly with a deeper blue tone and a shape that mirrors earlier iterations of the Blues logo.
Red, a color featured in Blues jerseys primarily during the 1980s and 1990s, does not appear to be part of possible rebranding, at least for now.
With all of this in mind, fans will likely have some answers soon, very possibly in a matter of days.
A Blues spokesperson gave FOX 2 permission to share the video teaser, but did not confirm any additional details regarding it.
