Saad had a goal in the Blues’ victory over Vegas on Wednesday.
Despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of NHL players are vaccinated, the COVID protocol is still a thing. Vaccinated players who are exposed have to report a negative test after exposure to be allowed to play, and it appears Brandon Saad is having an issue on that front. From the Blues’ official press release:
St. Louis Blues forward Brandon Saad will be unavailable for Saturday’s game vs. Los Angeles due to COVID protocols.
In three games this season, Saad has one goal and one assist (two points).
Saad scored the Blues’ first goal early in the second period of Wednesday night’s 3-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights.
Unfortunately for the Blues, Saad won’t be the only absent player during Saturday night’s home opener against the Los Angeles Kings. Forward Pavel Buchnevich will be serving the second game of his two-game suspension for a head-butt on the Coyotes’ Lawson Crouse. Kyle Clifford could be making his season debut this weekend.
