ST. LOUIS – Blues head coach Jim Montgomery had a decision to make and, admittedly, it wasn’t a hard one.
After defenseman Tyler Tucker went down injured at the end of game four, the writing was on the wall for Blues veteran Ryan Suter to slide back into the lineup after being a healthy scratch for games three and four.
“He’s a pro,” Montgomery said on Tuesday. “I know he is going to be good for us.”
The two-game break for Suter may have been needed considering Suter’s played every game this season. Suter’s also played 135 career playoff games.
“Putting him back in, we are getting our number one penalty-killing defenseman,” Montgomery explained.
Suter who played games one and two will re-join a defensive core that’s been one of the most productive units offensively in the postseason.
“This group has belief in ourselves this whole year, so we just have to keep building our game and bring that to game five,” Blues defenseman Philip Broberg said.
Four out of the seven Blues defensemen that have played in the first four games of this series have scored.
“Our defense has been doing a great job of getting pucks through and getting them on net or off the end wall and creating chaos around the net,” Blues left wing Jake Neighbours said.
