MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Last week, dozens of the Blues top prospects took to the Centenne Community Ice Center with one goal in mind.
“It’s good they know I’m here and it’s on me to show how good I am,” 2024 first-round draft pick Adam Jiříček told FOX 2.
Both drafted and undrafted players from past years drafts and this year are all looking to leave a mark for the coaches and scouts watching from above.
“It’s just about me being myself,” 2023 first-round draft pick Theo Lindstein said.
Lindstein, a defender, has been to development camps before and may make the move to North America this season after playing in Sweden.
“It’s always been a dream to come over here,” he explained. “I’ll be here for the camp in September and then we will see after that.”
Perhaps the most popular player on the ice, at least for the fans at this summer’s camp, was this year’s first-round pick, Justin Carbonneau, who was itching to get on the ice after missing two workout days because of the draft.
“As soon as I got here, I just wanted to know where is the gym and what are the name of the coaches,” Carbonneau said.
It’s unlikely any of these players will make this season’s roster in October, but head coach Jim Montgomery did say he was monitoring a number of prospects for potential call-ups.
