ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues keep their playoff hopes alive with a decisive Game 6 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. The final score: 5-2 Blues.
The Blues chased Jets starting goaltender Connor Hellebuyck out of net in their third consecutive first-round home game. Hellebuyck made 18 saves on 23 shots over two periods before the Jets yanked him out of the net to begin the third period.
The Blues struck first with an opening goal from Philip Broberg. After Winnipeg tied it quickly in the second period, the Blues rallied for four unanswered goals to close the frame. Nathan Walker, Brayden Schenn, Cam Fowler and Alexey Toropchenko all found the scoresheet.
Winnipeg struck with one third period goal, though could not muster much sustained offensive momentum for the night.
The Blues and Jets will need all seven possible games to decide their first-round series, now tied 3-3. Game 7 is set for Sunday in Winnipeg.
To this point, the home team has won every game this series. The Blues-Jets first-round matchup is one of just two remaining and going all the way to seven games.
